At the end of last week, a major new update was released in beta to all XML Flash Slideshow v4 customers. The key focus of this update is new robust support for touchscreen devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones and tablets. With a couple of clicks, you can configure your existing slideshow code to automatically display a touch-optimized non-Flash presentation for these devices. Choose either an immersive fullscreen experience or a highly-customizable inline experience like the standard Flash-based player. For more control, use the drag-n-drop layout editor to customize the inline presentation in the same way the Flash-based presentation can be customized.
The touchscreen compatibility update is available in public beta to all registered XFS v4 users. Learn more and download now »
But that’s not all. There’s much more than iOS and Android support in this update:
- New visual Ken Burns effect editor – drag and drop “focus pins” on a photo to enable panning/zooming. Let’s you highlight desired portions of a photo with ease.
- Built-in Image Optimizer / Resizer – you’ll no longer need to pre-process your photos with Fireworks or Photoshop before adding them to a slideshow.
- Feedback panel – provide feedback about your product experience whenever a thought strikes you, using the new built-in feedback button in the bottom right.
- Automated Security Settings – In previous builds, previewing on a site for the first time often required configuring the Flash Player security settings. Necessary configuration updates are now automatically made, letting you create slideshows even faster.
Head on over and download the update to take advantage of the new tools and improvements. We look forward to your feedback!
